How exciting already.

I just reviewed my blog stats and have 96 views from the US alone. Other views from Mexico, Germany, Costa Rica, and Russia. It's amazing what the "Stats" link can show you. That's so cool. I think I know who a few of you are :^). Thanks for checking out Canvas+Color=Art.

Ocean View with School of Fish and Seashells. Horizon Series

Second in the Horizon Series, this piece was inspired by the numerous beach and coastal locations that I’ve visited over the years. Beautiful spots around South Florida, The Caribbean, The Bahamas, Hawaii, Tahiti, and Mexico are all among those that came to mind while working on the piece. Miami’s south beach specifically and its rich shade of turquoise green ocean was my inspiration for the water. The “horizon” in this piece is meant to represent fish in the sea. Growing up in Florida, and loving warm sunny climates is who I am. Having the opportunity to enjoy more time at the beach (just about any beach) and to occasionally hunt for that amazing seashell find is who I want more to become.

Desert Bloom at Sunset. Horizon Series

First in what I’m referring to as the Horizon Series. This piece is inspired by the bold colors of our blooming desert against an often near lifeless looking desert floor…oh surprise. The desert southwest is said to have some of the most amazing and colorful skies at sunset, I have to agree, and its showy finale at the end of the day is a regular occurrence for us here in Tucson, Arizona.

Walking a Tightrope

The importance of this piece is primarily that it’s my first significant work. It’s an image and feeling that I saw in my mind during a short period of insomnia caused primarily by lingering physical pain and when the mind was racing with various thoughts that had never before been experienced at such a crazy level. Thoughts that are not all dark I might add. It’s the piece that inspired a desire to be creative in a whole new way, and that is to paint. I do not however see this piece as a direction that all other works will go…at least I hope not.
